Conventions for a Magazine

Left Third - The left 3rd. if you devide the magazine into 3 sections. The first one is always the one which is shown when magazine are been displayed. So therefore this one will be the one everyone sees first so needs to be the main of the magazine cover.

Mast head: Is the heading/title to the magazine, which is always on the TOP LEFT.

Splash: is the whole front cover, the image.

Sky line: The banner above the mast head! (text)

Screamer: Shouts a sentence (important) at you

Anchorage: a fixing device – the text directs the reader through the signifies of the image towards a meaning chosen in advance by the producer of the text.

Flash: Something made to stand out e.g prizes, prices, free posters, competitions

Byline: name of the writer.

Headline: words in large type found at the top of the story summarising it, the head.
